PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A house caught fire Wednesday afternoon in North Portland, officials said.
Firefighters responded to the blaze around 3:15 p.m. in the 4100 block of North Foss Court, according to Portland Fire and Rescue. The fire was out an hour later.
No one was hurt but traffic was affected in the area, officials said.
Neighbors told KOIN 6 News the owner of the home — Timothy Wilson — was using a garden hose to try to put out the flames before firefighters arrived.
Wilson said the structure that caught fire was being built as an addition to his main home on the property.
While the addition will need to be torn down and rebuilt, Wilson said the situation could have been far worse.
“My grandkids could’ve been over here and that would’ve been really wild,” he said.
Wilson said he plans on rebuilding and takes comfort from the support of his neighbors.
