PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — There was plenty of pomp and circumstance during the offical opening celebration for Grant High School.
The re-done school in Northeast Portland — originally built on the site in 1923 — has been open to students for a few weeks, and they’ve given the facility high marks.
“It’s so nice to have a permanent space and really a space that utilizes new technology, like green energy, and just makes it a lot more welcoming and we can really settle in as opposed to keeping things in boxes,” said Grant High Student Body President Ruby Paustian.
Mayor Ted Wheeler and Rep. Earl Blumenauer were at the grand opening. The rebuild allowed parts of the historic campus to remain while being able to modernize the rest.
