PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — PPB Chief Danielle Outlaw was honored as a Woman of Distinction by the Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington.
Outlaw became the first African-American woman to lead the police bureau when she was tabbed 2 years ago.
In her speech Tuesday, she spoke to young girls on the challenges of being a leader and perservering in a male-dominated industry. She also said she hopes to be a role model for girls that dream of working in similar positions.
