PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — With a terse 2 sentences on their Facebook page, the Rock Bottom Brewery in downtown Portland announced that location is closed.

“Thank you Portland for the last 25 years. We are permanently closed,” their Facebook post said. Their website has already been taken down.

Two employees who spoke with KOIN 6 News said they were just told about the closure Monday morning. They said they are unprepared for this sudden unemployment.

In a statement to KOIN 6 News, Josh Kern, the Chief Experience Officer for Rock Bottom Brewery’s parent company CraftWorks Holdings, said they enjoyed operating in Portland.

“In this case the landlord did not renews the lease on the restaurant,” Kern said, adding that “employees received assistance.”

CraftWorks Holdings operates many different restaurants, including Rock Bottom Brewery in more than 28 locations.
