PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Goodwill is used to getting all kinds of donations. In fact, Portland locations collected more than 250 million pounds of donations last year.

But one donation that came in over the weekend has employees wondering whether it was an accident.

Spokesperson Dale Emanuel said a “substantial” amount of cash was found in a donation box at the Lombard Goodwill.

“If it was meant as a donation to this charity, we are grateful,” Emanuel said in an email. “If not, we want to get it to its owner.”

Employees are checking surveillance video at the donation drop off area to see if they can identify the person who left the cash.

“It’s a bit like finding a needle in a haystack, but the process does sometimes reunite items with owners,” Emanuel said.

If you are the mystery donor or know something, you can call Goodwill at 503.238.6100.
