VegFest: Portland’s plant-based convention

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Portland VegFest kicked off Saturday at the Oregon Convention Center.

Visitors had access to numerous presentations on cooking, health, and the benefits of plants. The festival also hosted a large number of vendors which offered a wide variety of plant-base products. There are also film screenings scheduled for both days of the event in the afternoon.

“You’re going to support a 100% vegan company,” said VegFest vendor Cassadee Murdock about her business. “I’m vegan; my husband is vegan. Plants can heal.”

The convention is put on by Northwest VEG, a Portland-based non-profit dedicated to educating people on the healthy and sustainable benefits of vegan choices.

VegFest was open all day Saturday and continues Sunday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. General admission costs $10. Children under the age of 12 can attend for free.
