PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 26-year-old man was cited Wednesday night after police said he crashed a pickup truck into a Newport business.

Newport police said officers arrived at Hoover’s

Bar and Grill in South Beach shortly before 6:30 p.m. to find a crashed white 2014 Dodge Ram pickup. The truck was partially embedded into the southwest corner of the building.

The driver and only occupant — Alexander Price — wasn’t hurt nor were any patrons of the bar.

According to the investigation, Price fell asleep while driving northbound on Highway 101 near Southeast Ferry Slip Road. His truck then slowly drifted off the highway and jumped over a raised curb before crashing into the business.

The outside of the bar suffered extensive damage.

Price was cited for careless driving.
