PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 23-year-old Seaside man was airlifted to a Portland hospital early Thursday after a fireworks accident injured his hand.

Seaside police told KOIN 6 News the man was injured around 12:30 a.m. inside the city limits. He was taken by Life Flight to OHSU.

Authorities said his hand was injured but did provide more details nor did they say what kind of firework caused the injury.

Fireworks safety

With fireworks you need to keep it safe and legal.

Many Oregonians head to Washington to buy fireworks and shoot them off in Oregon. TVF&R Captain Tim Nokes said that’s a big no-no. The laws governing what is and isn’t legal are very different.

“In Oregon the law basically says nothing can explode, nothing can fly through the air and nothing can travel erratically across the ground,” Nokes told KOIN 6 News.
