PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Three kids were rescued after being pulled into the ocean by a rip current at Rockaway Beach on Sunday.

The Rockaway Beach Fire Department said kids age 14 and 12 were about 100 yards out when they were rescued using an unmanned surface vehicle.

A man and woman who tried to get them were also pulled back in by rescuers.

The fire department said there is really no safe place to swim off Rockaway Beach. People are encouraged to swim at Lake Lytle instead.
