PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The U.S. Coast Guard rescued two tourists, who were stranded by high tide, on Sunday afternoon.
The couple was on the south side of Indian Beach within Ecola State Park. The situation was reported to the Coast Guard at 11:57 a.m. — and an aircrew arrived on scene at 12:32 p.m.
The woman was being hit by waves before the crew aboard the MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter hoisted her to safety. Her boyfriend was rescued shortly after.
According to the Coast Guard, the foreign nationals were taken to the parking area to get checked out, but neither was injured.
