Aloha porch pirate caught on camera

Washington County

The suspect turned himself in to the Washington County Sheriff's Office

ALOHA, Ore. (KOIN) — An Aloha resident caught a man on camera walking away with an Amazon package, with the help of their video security system on Thursday.

Surveillance video showed a man walking up to the front porch of a home on SW Blanton Street while carrying 2 pizza boxes, said the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The man can be seen putting down the pizza boxes and picking up an Amazon package, and leaving with it stacked on top of the pizza.

The video of the theft was posted to the Neighbors app, and that’s when the property manager of the apartment complex recognized the man and called the sheriff’s office.

Deputies went directly to the home of the suspect, 18-year-old Eric Gonzales-Lopes. There they found other stolen items, which authorities were able to return to their owners, but Gonzales-Lopes was not at home at the time.

However, authorities said that Gonzales-Lopes turned himself in to the sheriff’s office just before 7 a.m. Friday. He was booked into jail and now faces mail theft charges.
