PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Beaverton Boy Scout troop needs the public’s help in finding a trailer that was stolen from a church parking lot in Washington County.

The plain white trailer was taken from St. Andrew Lutheran Church sometime between Monday night and early Tuesday morning.

This theft has left the scouts scrambling to find another trailer, as well as replace the cooking and camping gear that was stored inside, for their wilderness trips.

Leadership with Troop 618 told KOIN 6 News that the trailer was still parked in the lot Monday night. One of the adult had seen it there at around 9 p.m.—then it disappeared.

On Tuesday afternoon, some of the stolen property was found at a Walmart parking lot in Springfield. The troop got a call that someone had dumped some of their belongings, like a scouting book, along with a phone contact list. The folks who recovered these things called to let the troop know what they found.

“Our trailer is now gone,” said Nicholas Shibata, Senior Patrol Leader of Troop 618. “It’s whereabouts are yet to be known, but we did find some our materials down in Springfield. I’m just kind of jarred that our trailer would be taken it was kind of just out of the blue really.”

“We use that trailer a lot we’ve had it for about 12 – 14 years now,” said Neal Quirk, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader of the troop. “Sad to see it go.”

In an effort to recover their stolen gear, the scouts provided some photos of what was taken—burners for cooking, pots, pans, plates, and utensils. There were also storage containers, among other things.

The trailer itself is a white, covered 6-by-12-foot trailer that does not have any markings on it. It has the Oregon license plate U292100.
