BEAVERTON, Ore. (KOIN) — The adult son of an 80-year-old Beaverton man was arrested Friday morning at his home after shooting and killing his father, police said.
The 47-year-old son, Gregory Hall, called police around 5:20 a.m. to report the shooting, Beaverton PD spokesperson Bryan Dalton told KOIN 6 News. Police arrived shortly after at the home in the 7000 block of SW Hoodview Place off Denney Road and took the son into custody.
The father, Dennis, was rushed to the hospital but died on the way, officials said.
Neighbor Steve Fitzgerald knows both the father and the son, and described himself as “good friends” with Dennis.
Fitzgerald has known them “25, 30 years. Never heard them fight at all.”
He did say, though, the son was “heavily medicated,” but finds “it hard that he could even do that.” Fitzgerald said he’s know Gregory “since he was 6-years-old, probably.”
The investigation into the shooting remains open. Gregory Hall is being held at the Washington County Jail on a murder charge.
