Suspect arrested in Gaston stabbing that injured man

Washington County

The victim has non-life-threatening injuries

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Washington County Deputies arrested the suspect wanted in a Gaston stabbing after an hours long manhunt Saturday.

Deputies were alerted of the stabbing after a 66-year-old man showed up at a local hospital with injuries from the assault around 9 a.m.

The victim was attacked inside a home on the 400-block of Church Street. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said they suspected that Aaron Platas, 30, who lives at the house, was the one who assaulted the man. While Platas and the victim are not related, deputies said the two have known each other for years.

Deputies, as well as multiple tactical units, went out to the home and searched it, but found no sign of the suspect Saturday afternoon.

Just after 8 p.m. the WCSO announced that Platas was arrested without further incident in Cornelius. He will be booked on charges related to the stabbing, said the WCSO.
