Man’s alleged crime spree includes crashing through Nike gate

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man was arrested on Thursday after allegedly committing a slew of crimes including crashing through a security gate at the Nike campus.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said Dennis Hester crashed through the security gates of a Nike building on SW Terman Road causing thousands of dollars in damage. The crash was caught on security cameras.

Next, he attempted to break into cars on SW Derby Street and pepper-sprayed people who tried to stop him, WCSO said.

Deputies then arrived on scene and began chasing him. Two schools in the area were temporarily put on lockout.

By 12:12 pm, he was caught by deputies who were using a drone. He is charged with robbery III, unlawful use of tear gas/mace, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, criminal mischief, hit and run, driving while suspended – reckless driving.
