Pedestrian killed after being struck by car in Hillsboro

185th Ave. SB was closed for several hours

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A pedestrian in a crosswalk but crossing against the light died after being hit by a car in Hillsboro early Monday morning.

The victim was hit at an intersection near Northwest 185th Avenue between Northeast Walker Road and Holly Street around 4:30 a.m. The man was crossing 185th when he was struck.

The driver, who remained at the scene, had a green light and the right of way, investigators said. Neither speed nor alcohol contributed to this crash.

“The driver of the vehicle that struck him remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators,” said Hillsboro Police Sgt. Eric Bunday.

The pedestrian’s name has not yet been released.

“Obviusly this is a trauamatic time for them, so our hearts go out to them and to the family of the person that died this morning,” Bunday said.

Police reopened 185th St. around 7:50 a.m. It was closed for about 2 hours while they conducted their investigation.
