PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 15-year-old is behind bars after allegedly using a gun to try and rob a phone from a man at Harrison Park in Southeast Portland.

Around 11:30 a.m. the man was sitting in the park, 8300 SE Stephens, when the teen approached him and flashed a gun, police said in a release. The teen tried to take the man’s phone but after a struggle ran off.

Officers rushed to the park and found the suspect teenager around SE Clinton and 84th. Authorities said they found a loaded semiautomatic handgun at the time the teen was arrested.

No one was hurt.

The teen faces robbery, unlawful possession of a gun and menacing charges. He’s being held in the Multnomah County Juvenile Detention Center.
