PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 31-year-old man who shot himself while he wrestled with an officer inside the Portland International Airport was arraigned Tuesday morning in a Multnomah County courtroom.
Deshawn Seamster made his first appearance September 30 to face multiple charges, including assaulting a police officer. He’s also charged with unlawful use of a weapon, interfering with a public safety officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, criminal trespass with a firearm, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The Port of Portland said Seamster shot himself with his own weapon during a struggle with an officer inside a revolving door around 5 a.m. on Sept. 27. A bullet hole was found in the revolving door.
Seamster was sent to a hospital to be treated for his gunshot wound. He was arrested shortly afterward.
Seamster has a history of convictions including being a felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, delivery of cocaine, burglary, disorderly conduct.
