PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Miracles Central, the Lloyd District’s new affordable housing building, opened on Thursday.

The project was spearheaded by Central City Concern and partially funded by the Portland Housing Bureau.

“Our vision was to provide housing for low income people central to the city,” Executive Director Ed Blackburn tells KOIN.

They had no problem finding residents for all 47 units. “It’s full. Every room’s accounted for. A lot of people in this building will be in recovery from addictions, but most have achieved some stability,” Blackburn says.

Miracles Central will be providing more than housing — they’ll have employment and mentoring services on site– and recovery groups will be held in the building.

“What we’ll build here is a community of people who are mutually supporting each other and that’s essential.”
