PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The search and rescue dog responsible for finding a toddler who was lost for hours two years ago had a sweet reunion with the boy she saved.

Then 2-year-old River found his way outside one night in February 2017 and was reported missing around 6 a.m. when his mother woke up and realized he wasn’t in bed.
The boy was found just before noon that day by Mountain Wave Search and Rescue K9 Ava and her handler, Becky.
He was in some blackberry bushes about 2 blocks away from his home in Northeast Portland.
“She dragged me right in there,” Becky Irving with Mountain Wave said.
Mountain Wave tweeted Sunday that Becky and her dogs, Ava and Clara, met with River and his grandmother.
“Tears flew and hugs abound!” the tweet said.
