PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A reward of $2,500 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the person responsible for shooting Jasper — a 9-year-old horse.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said the horse was shot between June 2 and June 3 while grazing in a pasture.
Jasper is expected to make a full recovery despite being shot twice, once near the right side of his jaw and once in his left thigh. The bullet in his thigh has since been removed, however, officials said the bullet in Jasper’s neck won’t be taken out just yet due to its location and the risk involved.
The Oregon Humane Society has offered a $500 reward for information about the horse’s shooter. Additionally, a community member contacted the sheriff’s office and offered $2,000.
Authorities think whoever shot Jasper did so while driving past the field. Deputies said they found several bullet casings on the roadside near Jasper’s pasture at 32657 Southwest Reidweg Road south of Cornelius.
