The dogs and cats arrived at the Hillsboro Airport on Sunday afternoon.

The 50-70 animals, which were already up for adoption in Alabama shelters, will go to shelters across the northwest.

“When we get the call to help after a disaster, our goal is to always say ‘yes’” CEO Sharon Harmon said in a press release. “Our team is working very hard to make sure we can accommodate this influx of pets while still helping our regular shelter partners.”

The Oregon Humane Society took in 30 cats and 18 dogs, which will be available for adoption later this week.
