BEND, Ore. (KOIN) — A woman is charged with criminal mistreatment along with the murder of her grandmother.
Angela Judd was arraigned on Monday following her arrest over the weekend in Deschutes County. According to the criminal information filed against her, prosecutors allege that on New Year’s Eve, Judd killed her grandmother, Nada Bodholdt, 92.
In a statement released on Monday, District Attorney John Hummel said, “Nada Bodholdt’s death was a tragedy and was unnecessary.” He added, “This case presents a novel legal issue regarding statements made by the defendant. The State will ask the court to resolve the legal issue in the preliminary hearing process and won’t comment on these statements unless and until the court rules them admissible.”
The acts of criminal mistreatment, in which Judd is accused of “unlawfully and knowingly” withholding necessary and adequate physical care from her grandmother are alleged to have occurred between Dec. 13 and 30, 2015. Judd is also accused of taking her grandmother’s medication and money which had a value of more than $1,000, according to court documents.
The case was investigated by the Bend Police Department. Judd’s next court hearing is scheduled for Feb. 16.
