PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Better Naito project starts again on Monday, after a successful pilot project in the summer of 2015, according to the Portland Bureau of Transportation.

Better Naito closes one northbound lane of SW Naito Parkway between SW Main St. and NW Davis St. Last year, that lane was closed for 2 weeks during the Rose Festival City Fair, and again during the Oregon Brewers Festival.
This year, the lane will be closed from May 2 to July 31.
During the Waterfront Blues Festival, July 1 to July 4, the closure will start at SW Clay St.
The goal of Better Naito, according to the city, is to make it easier and safer for people to walk and bike to Waterfront Park during the summer festival season. Officials say 15,000 people go to Waterfront Park each day during the peak season.
