‘Superstar’ K-9 captures armed Beaverton suspect

All lockouts have been cleared

BEAVERTON, Ore. (KOIN) — An armed man that prompted 3 Beaverton schools to go on lockout was captured by a “superstar K-9” late Thursday morning.

Officers were searching near NW 119th Avenue and NW Old Quarry Road after calls came in about a man with a gun in the area.

The incident began as a dispute between roommates. The suspect fired shots inside a shared house and the roommate ran out of the house into the street and called 911, said Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian van Kleef.

The alleged gunman will most likely face charges for unlawful use of a weapon, van Kleef said.

K-9 Stark picked up the scent from the suspect’s last known spot and tracked him down. It was K-9 Stark’s 211th capture, a record for Washington County K-9s, officials said.
