PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A couple in Boring is taking advantage of the popularity of the non-psychoactive chemical compound in cannabis known as CBD.
Serafina Palandech and chef Jennifer Johnson live on a sprawling farm in Boring with their daughter.
In 2014, the two women launched an organic chicken brand called Hip Chick Farms and were named the “most innovative women in food and drink” by Food and Wine Magazine the following year.
But the pair didn’t anticipate the stress that would befall them as they went through the process of selling their chicken-nugget empire.
“You know, there’s a lot of anxiety that goes along with selling your company you started,” Palandech told KOIN 6 News.
Palandech said she turned to CBD to help her with that anxiety. Her wife followed suit.
After they both noticed their anxiety was alleviated, they got to work on their next venture: a line of CBD hemp extract products, including snacks, oils and dog gummies.
In honor of their new home in Boring, they named the company “A Boring Life.”
Johnson said the CBD snacks are great for people on the go, are full of protein and taste delicious.
Thanks to Hip Chick Farms, the couple had already established relationships with grocery stores across the U.S. They said New Seasons has been particularly supportive.
Now, Palandech and Johnson want to give back to the community. They’re hiring new employees as their business continues to grow.
Palandech said they want to help “create jobs, drive business into the Pacific Northwest and build an even greater thriving economy here.”
