PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The family of a northwestern Oregon girl says the child has died after being swept up by a wave while on vacation in Mexico.
The Oregonian reports that Katie Greer says she and her 4-year-old daughter Marissa had been walking on the beach in Cabo San Lucas when the wave pulled them and two others from the shore. She says the little girl “slipped out of my hand.”
The group was rescued from the waves, Greer says, but Marissa was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Greer says her daughter was in preschool and loved to play with her 2-year-old brother, Trenton.
The family returned home from their trip to Canby Tuesday. A GoFundMe has been set up for the family.
