PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Car2go announced on Friday that they will be ending operations in Portland at the end of October.

“While we firmly believe that Portland deserves free-floating carshare, it is a complex transportation market that requires a significant investment on the part of any mobility provider wanting to enter the city and unfortunately, we are unable to continue doing so in a manner that’s sustainable for our business,” a statement from the company read.

Portland is among a small number of other cities where the company is ceasing operations.

A similar service, ReachNow, ended operations in Portland earlier this year.
