Casino: $8 million jackpot actually $10.50
The casino says Vernoica Castillo could've only won $6,000
KOIN 6 News Staff - PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) --- Lucky Eagle Casino in Rochester, Washington is explaining its side of the story after a Beaverton woman said she won an $8 million jackpot, but was given $80 after casino officials told her the machine malfunctioned.
According to Veronica Castillo, she put $100 in a machine and hit the jackpot.
"I was very excited, happy," she told KOIN 6 News. "Then I couldn't believe it."
The casino staff came over and told her the machine malfunctioned.
"They shut off the machine, took it away, printed out a ticket and gave me $80."
The casino machines have a sticker that says a malfunction of the machine voids all pays and plays.
On Thursday, casino CEO John Setterstorm told KOIN 6 News he was working to get answers from the manufacturer of the machine.
He has now released those answers.
In a statement, Setterstorm said it is clear the "Jurassic Riches" game experienced a display malfunction. The machine offers a maximum jackpot of $20,000 if a maximum bet is played. Setterstorm said that information is available on the machine. You can read the full statement below.
