PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Portland Police Bureau has improved its police officer training following a 2015 audit.
That’s according to a follow-up audit released Wednesday by City Auditor Mary Hull Caballero.
According to the audit, PPB has implemented or is in the process of implementing 12 recommendations made by the city auditor in 2015.
Portland police have applied recommendations to have the Training Division play a bigger role in assessing policy changes and effects as well as improve weapons check-out procedures.
Some of the recommendations the bureau is still working to apply include providing more role-playing scenarios and actual cases as part of training and avoiding profanity or demeaning language.
