Shop with a Cop makes holidays memorable for kids

Law enforcement agencies around Oregon participate

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Now that the holiday season is here, law enforcement agencies from around the state of Oregon spent their Saturday morning helping kids pick out the perfect gift.

Deputies, officers and volunteers -- and hundreds of kids -- participate in the "Shop with a Cop" event each year. Without this event, some kids may not have a present to open up on Christmas morning.

The sheriff's offices in Multnomah, Clackamas, Washington and Marion counties were just some of the agencies to participate in the event.

Marion County helped kids pick out gifts at Walmart while Multnomah County spent their morning at Target.

Shop with a Cop has been around for 21 years. It pairs law enforcement with a child -- and together they shop.
