Couple rescued from embankment after chasing dog

WILSONVILLE, Ore. (KOIN) — A pair of hikers got stuck down a steep embankment Saturday at Wilsonville Memorial Park.

They were trying to go after their dog, who went down the 20-foot embankment. The dog was able to get himself back up uninjured, but the 87-year-old man and a woman could not climb back up in the steep terrain.

Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue crews repelled down to the riverbank to retrieve them.
