PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Four people were transported to the hospital — two by helicopter and two by ambulance — after a head-on collision on Highway 26 on Monday afternoon. 

Banks Fire said the crash happened on milepost 24.5 near Quartz Creek. The highway is closed and will be for several hours, fire crews said. 

The Elsie Vine Maple Fire Department also responded to the scene. 

Crews advised that people avoid the area.
