Bicyclist airlifted after being hit by car in Hillsboro

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A bicyclist was seriously hurt when he was hit by a driver in Hillsboro Wednesday night.

The 53-year-old was riding on the south side of NE Cornell Road when he was hit by the truck turning north from NE 28th Avenue.

Hillsboro police said the driver initially drove away but returned to the scene and cooperated with investigators.

LifeFlight took the cyclist to OHSU with serious injuries to his face and left side. He is stable.

“This time of the year there’s a lot of bicyclists going to be out and about, the traffic is heavy,” said Sgt. Clint Chrz. “Just be careful because bicyclists will lose when you are going up against a car.”
