Bicyclist dies in Tigard collision

TIGARD, Ore. (KOIN) — A bicyclist is dead after crashing with a car in Tigard, officials say.

Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue said the crash took place Tuesday just before 8:30 p.m. at SW Pacific Highway and SW Gaarde Street.

Officials said the bicyclist was a male, but they have not identified him. He died before officers arrived.

Based on witness statements and the investigation, authorities said the driver of a white convertible Mazda Miata was traveling southbound on Pacific Highway in the right lane. At the same time, a bicyclist was riding in the bike lane and entered the right lane when he was hit by the car.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Alcohol was not a factor in this crash.

Anyone who witnessed this crash or the driving of the convertible is asked to contact Officer Rod Morse at 503.718.2753.
