Car crashes into Tigard home; multiple people hurt

Officers said the driver had a medical emergency and the passenger tried to take the wheel

TIGARD, Ore. (KOIN) — Multiple people were hurt after a car crashed into a house Friday morning in Tigard.

The crash happened at about 9:30 a.m. at Walnut Street and Wilton Avenue.

A driver had a medical event and started to lose consciousness so the passenger in the car tried to take control of the wheel, according to the Tigard Police Department. The driver’s foot became heavy, causing the car to hit another vehicle and then a house.

Officers said part of the car went into the house and a 7-year-old girl inside was hurt by debris but her injuries were not serious.

The driver was taken to a hospital while the passenger remained at the scene with minor injuries.
