Child hurt by hit-and-run driver in SE Portland

The 6-year-old is expected to survive

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A little girl was hurt when a driver hit her as she walked with her mother in a  crosswalk in Southeast Portland Monday evening.

Portland police said the mother and 6-year-old had activated the lights for a marked crosswalk at SE 107th and SE Division Street and cars stopped to let them cross. A white sedan passed the stopped cars on the right -- in the bike lane -- where it hit the girl.

The car did not stop and continued east on Division Street and possibly west on SE 111th from Powell.

The mother was not hit and the girl was treated at the scene and taken to the hospital. Her injuries are not life-threatening.
