PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Divers are looking for a submerged car in the Willamette River to make sure no one is in the vehicle and remove it after it crashed into the water.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the incident just after 6 a.m. Friday in the 1000 block of SE Oak Grove Blvd.

According to the caller, a man was banging on someone’s door and “acting strange.” The caller also reported that the man was bleeding from his arm and said something about a car crash before running off.

When deputies arrived in the area, they found the man and learned he drove his car off the Oak Grove boat ramp. His injuries appear to be from the impact and removing himself from the car. It’s unclear if anyone else was in the car with him.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital for a mental health assessment and treatment of minor injuries.

His family members have been accounted for and are safe.

The Oak Grove boat ramp will be closed until authorities finish their operation.
