E-scooter, car collide in Lents neighborhood


Witnesses said the e-scooter didn't slow down as it crossed Southeast Foster Road

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A car hit a person riding a scooter Wednesday evening in the Lents neighborhood.

The e-scooter crashed with a Ford Focus in the 10300 block of Southeast Foster Road.

Witnesses said the e-scooter crossed Foster Road without slowing down or using the pedestrian crosswalk signal, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

The Focus was traveling eastbound and hit the e-scooter. The driver stayed at the scene and the e-scooter rider was taken to a hospital.

It’s unclear if anyone was cited in the crash or if the e-scooter rider sustained any serious injuries.

Video taken at the scene showed the car’s windshield smashed inward and the scooter trapped beneath the vehicle.

A helmet, bag and a single shoe were laying nearby on the sidewalk.
