Motorcyclist dies after losing control on NE Halsey

Edward Woods, of Portland, was 41 years old

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A motorcyclist died after losing control on a curve and crashing into a pickup truck on Northeast Halsey Street Saturday afternoon.

Portland police said Edward Woods, 41, died at the hospital from his injuries.

Investigators said witnesses reported Woods was speeding and cross the center line on a curve at Northeast 80th Avenue. His Ducati Monster went on its side and slid into the path of an oncoming Ford Ranger.

The driver of the Ford tried to swerve out of the way, but was ultimately unable to avoid the crash. The two adults and a child in the Ford weren’t hurt. The driver was cited for not having a license and not having insurance.

Woods is the 43rd person to die in Portland car crash this year.
