Motorcyclist killed in SE Portland crash

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) --- A motorcyclist was killed in a crash early Tuesday morning.

Portland Police say a man riding on a Harley Davidson crashed into a GMC pick-up that was turning southbound onto SE 141st Avenue from westbound SE Powell Blvd.

The man was ejected from the motorcycle and after landing on the ground, was struck by a Ford sedan that was traveling westbound on SE Powell Blvd.

Witnesses told officers that the motorcyclist was speeding, passing vehicles and traveling into the oncoming lane of traffic before the crash.

Both the driver of the Ford and the GMC remained on scene. The driver of the Ford, 26-year-old Rory Morgan, was arrested for DUII.

The motorcyclist was later identified as 43-year-old Jeremy J. Sowa of Gresham.

SE Powell Boulevard was closed during the investigation but reopened around 6:30 a.m.

According to officials, speed is believed to be a factor.
