Fatal pedestrian crash leads to vehicular homicide charge

VANCOUVER, Wash. (KOIN) — A driver was booked into jail for vehicular homicide after police said he hit and killed a pedestrian Monday night.

Vancouver police said the collision happened in the 1700 block of Fourth Plain Boulevard around 9:30 p.m.

The pedestrian died at the scene.

According to police, the driver reported that he was driving eastbound on Fourth Plain when the vehicle in front of him charged lanes. He then said he felt a bump and saw a person lying in the roadway when he looked back.

The driver — later identified as 25-year-old Nicholas D. Moline — was taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries. Once he was released, he was booked into the Clark County Jail.

The identity of the pedestrian has not yet been released.
