PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The driver of a small pickup truck was airlifted after colliding with a log truck on Highway 30 shortly before 1 p.m. Monday in Columbia City.

The crash happened at the intersection of Hwy 30 and I Street, Columbia River Fire & Rescue said, and caused “extensive front end damage” to the pickup.

Emergency crews needed 15 minutes using hydraulic tools to get the pinned driver out of the pickup, officials said, before being taken by Life Flight to a Portland area hospital.

The log truck driver was checked by paramedics at the scene but did not need to be taken to a hospital.

The Oregon State Police, ODOT and the Scappoose Fire District also helped at the scene.
