PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 68-year-old man who police said had a blood alcohol content nearly 3 times the legal limit faces multiple charges after being involved in a wrong-way crash on I-405.

Gerald R. Sullivan was taken to the hospital after the early Sunday morning crash, Portland police said. Shortly before 1 a.m., officers were alerted to a Honda driving south in the northbound lanes of the freeway. Before they arrived, the Honda slammed into a Toyota SUV near SW 4th Avenue.

Sullivan was still inside the Honda and was taken by ambulance for minor injuries. The two people inside the Toyota also suffered minor injuries.

The Vancouver resident’s BAC was .22%, police said. He now faces DUII and reckless driving charges.
