PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A North Carolina man was arrested for allegedly managing an illegal marijuana grow operation in southern Oregon where authorities found and destroyed $15 million in pot.
A months-long investigation culminated in the April 11 arrest of Gregory Martin Day after a search at a property in Medford. The Oregon State Police said they found and destroyed 14,497 pot plants with a street value of $15 million.
Authorities said they also found $557,488 in cash plus 29 guns, including 2 fully-automatic rifles. There was also 600 butane honey oil cartridges, 312 pounds of butane honey oil product, more than 2 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms and some LSD.
Day, 24, is being held in the Jackson County Jail on numerous charges.
Other agencies involved in the investigation were the Rogue Area Drug Enforcement team, OLCC, the Department of Homeland Security Investigations, Fire District 5 and law enforcement members from Illinois and Kansas.
