PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two people and 4 dogs were rescued from a burning home in Aumsville Tuesday evening and one man was arrested for arson and attempted murder in the case.
A manufactured home, a carport and multiple vehicles were engulfed in flames around 5 p.m. in the 11000 block of Causey Lane SE, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said.
Neighbors told KOIN 6 News they heard people yelling for help and came outside to see an inferno.
“Like a football field away from the fire you could hear the crackling of the wood,” said Taylor Westenhouse, a witness of the fire.
Deputies responded first and learned an adult woman and a disabled man were trapped in the home. Deputies rushed in and rescued the people before going back for the dogs.
One person was taken to a hospital for treatment of burns but is expected to recover.

Justin Jameson was later arrested and is being held in the Marion County Jail. The 28-year-old is charged with arson and attempted murder.
“I’m glad he was caught,” said Westenhouse. “I don’t know why anybody would want to do that, especially during the winter — why would you want to make someone potentially homeless, especially during the coldest months of the year?”
Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
