PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The 2019 national enforcement mobilization campaign “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” goes into effect on August 14-September 2.
A portion of these efforts utilized some grant funds from Oregon Impact supplied by the Oregon Transportation Safety Division.
Portland Police arrested 66 impaired drivers in July alone.
About a third of all traffic crash fatalities in the U.S. involve drunk drivers, totaling at about 10,874 people back in 2017.
PPB said they are committed to working with their partners in the government as well as in the community to work towards safer streets.
