PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The driver accused of hitting and killing a 58-year-old woman outside a Vietnamese restaurant in Vancouver made his first court appearance Monday morning.
Dennis Bogle was arrested Friday evening at his home near SE Nancy Road and SE 10th Street. Police said they also found his Dodge truck on the property.
He’s accused of hitting Huong Nguyen behind the Pho Ton 4 restaurant while she was taking out the trash. Nearby security cameras recorded the hit-and-run and the dark green Dodge Ram flatbed pickup which allegedly belongs to Bogle.
The Clark County Medical Examiner said Nguyen died from multiple blunt force injuries after she was hit and run over by the truck. She also suffered from other medical conditions at the time of her death.
Bogle is charged with vehicular homicide, hit-and-run death and disregard for the safety of others.
The probable cause documents obtained by KOIN 6 News said investigators got 2 different surveillance videos that led them to Bogle. When police arrived at his Vancouver house, he said he was trying to light a cigarette and thought he just hit a trash can.
