Bicyclists with hammer or hatchet rob man in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two bicyclists are being sought in connection with a hatchet or hammer attack on a man in Northeast Portland shortly after midnight Sunday morning.

The man was walking in the area of NE Martin Luther King and Schuyler around 12:30 a.m. when the bicyclists approached him and demanded money. Police said one of the bicyclists hit the victim during the robbery with either a hatchet or a hammer.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The bicyclists — both described as white man in their early 30s with a skinny build — fled the area after the robbery and attack.
