Corvallis man attacked with hatchet, suspect arrested

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The wanted suspect who struck a Corvallis man in the head with a hatchet was found and arrested on Wednesday.

The suspect, named Eugene Xooz White, was found while walking around a small business park near Pacific Highway in Junction City.

He was booked at Benton County Jail for attempted murder, assault, and unlawful use of a weapon.

White attacked his victim at an illegal campsite near Pioneer Park on Philomath Boulevard in Corvallis on Thursday, when he hit the man over the head with the hatchet. During the investigation, police learned that White personally knew the victim.

The victim was taken to the Good Samaritan Hospital for serious injuries but no update on his status has been given.
